NEW:
Who is online now?
Want to chat with other GlobalWales
members? To find out who is online when you are, go to the left-hand menu, click
"Search" then "Member Search". Notice the "Who's Online Now" icon at the top?
Click this and you will see which members are online. Clicking a member name
gives you the opportunity to send a request to chat.
NEW:
Decide who can comment on your photos
Now, when you upload a photo, you
can decide whether to allow comments to be posted by all members about that
photo, whether to restrict comments to your Connections or perhaps not to allow
any comments by others.
NEW:
Use GlobalWales for your own organisation
GlobalWales is a networking
platform: you can use it for your own Welsh-connected organisation. In fact, we
are delighted to welcome the Welsh Society of Sydney, who are setting up their
own area of GlobalWales to network, promote events and more. Croeso! The service
is, of course, free: the only criteria is that your organisation must be of
benefit to Wales or Welsh culture. To find out more, click "Contact
Us."
Does
your profile say enough about you?
Take
a new look at your personal page/profile - are you making the best use of it?
Here are a few tips:
-
At
the top of your personal page, you will see that you have your own GlobalWales
Internet address. So, if you wish, you can use your GlobalWales page as a
personal web page or calling card on emails etc. -
People
like to see who you are. If you haven't done so already, why not upload a
picture of yourself? -
Of
course, you can start as many blogs as you like on GlobalWales. But, if you are
not into blogging, you can also use this feature to give more information about
yourself, your career, your company, your family and so on. -
Check
your privacy settings. Can other members see your profile properly? GlobalWales
is dedicated to your privacy and, quite correctly, offers settings that can keep
your presence here a secret. For most people, though, that's not the point! So
be sure either all members or your Connections can see what you want them to see
on your personal page.
Quick
way to make Connections
Hop into a group and offer Connections to
members of that group. Just for this, GlobalWales has two general
interest/introduction groups: "Hello, I'm new"
within Getting Started with Global Wales, and "Down the
local" within Just Fun. You can also post an item about yourself or your
thoughts to these and make comments on others. Don't be shy - GlobalWales
members are a friendly bunch. We haven't seen a single nutter yet! Please
remember, though, that GlobalWales is still very new and our 400 members are all
feeling their way through this - we are all newbies really.
Enter
your favourite Welsh web sites
There's a new hidden page for
members to enter their favourite Welsh-related web sites. Eventually, it will go
public but, at the moment, you can only reach it by clicking the link below as
it is visible to members only. We are hoping you can make it a quirky collection
rather than a complete guide to Wales on the web. To add your own ideas, click
here:
Thanks for helping to build a
virtual global village for Wales!
